The Seven Summits of Indonesia

Mount Rinjani

Indonesia is known for having many mountains. Some of them are known as the Seven Summit Indonesia or the highest peaks in Indonesia. These mountains stretch from Sumatra to Papua. Following are some of the mountains considered part of the Seven Summit Indonesia, from Sumatra to Papua:

1. Mount Kerinci

Mount Kerinci is the highest mountain on the island of Sumatra. With a height of 3,805 meters above sea level, Mount Kerinci is declared one of the Seven Summit Indonesia. The mountain is located on the border between West Sumatra and Jambi. It is located in the Kerinci Seblat National Park, which is also the largest national park in Indonesia. This Seven Summit of Indonesia has been designated as the highest volcanic mountain in Southeast Asia. In addition, this mountain, which is a target for climbers, has also been designated as a World Heritage Site with the category of the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra.

2. Mount Semeru

Mount Semeru is located on the border of the districts of Malang and Lumajang in East Java Province. The peak height of Mount Semeru is 3,675 meters above sea level. Mount Semeru is one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia. Less than 20 minutes once, the crater of this mountain emits volcanic ash. 4. Mount Latimojong

5. Mount Binaiya

Mount Binaiya is located in the Maluku Islands, specifically on the island of Seram, Maluku. The peak of Binaiya has a height of 3,027 meters above sea level. Mount Binaiya is a part of the karst mountains and is inactive. The uniqueness of Mount Binaiya has a varied terrain. The mountain has forests with coastal ecosystems, swamp forests, lowland rainforests, mountain rainforests, and sub-alpine forests.

6. Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani is the highest mountain in the Lesser Sunda Islands or Nusa Tenggara. Specifically, the mountain is located on the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This second active volcano in Indonesia has a height of 3,726 meters above sea level. One of the attractions of Mount Rinjani is the caldera lake at its peak. To reach the summit, climbers can take two climbing routes, Sembalun and Senaru.

7. Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya)

Carstensz Pyramid, also known as Puncak Jaya, is the peak of the Jayawijaya Mountains in the province of Papua. This mountain, which is a sport tourism destination, has a height of 4,884 meters above sea level and is one of the highest peaks in Indonesia. Carstensz Pyramid has also been declared one of the World Seven Summits or the highest peaks in the world. To reach the peak, climbers must have rock climbing skills. There are two paths to reach the summit, Ilaga and Sugapa.
